Connor Shaw practiced again on Tuesday after injuring his throwing shoulder in the win over UCF.
The Gamecocks probably won’t decide if Shaw or junior Dylan Thompson will start against the Wildcats until Thursday, Steve Spurrier said earlier Tuesday.
Center Cody Waldrop (ankle) did not practice, and Spurrier indicated that Clayton Stadnik might again get the start there on Saturday.
Tight end Rory Anderson also did not practice with what was described as a minor back ailment. Other players who missed practice due to injury or were in yellow jerseys were: Devin Washington (concussion), Mike Matulis (shoulder) and Brandon Wilds (elbow).
Young linebackers waiting for more
Freshman linebacker Skai Moore has practiced more during team drills this week and expects to play more against Kentucky than he has in the previous four games, he said after Tuesday’s practice.
“This week I am in the rotation in a little bit more so I feel like Saturday I should be in the game more,” he said. “Every week I am competing for a starting job.”
Moore is listed as the No. 2 weakside linebacker behind Marcquis Roberts.
Freshman Larenz Bryant remains at spur but doesn’t appear near contributing at the position that currently is being manned by Sharrod Golightly and Jordan Diggs.
The coaches “are telling me to stay in the playbook right now because I’m not getting many reps now,” said Bryant, who moved from linebacker.
-- Wide receiver Shaq Roland is practicing with the team during his three-game suspension.
-- Defensive line coach Deke Adams said he's pleased with the way Jadeveon Clowney has played this season and that the film shows Clowney is affecting the game, with teams continuing to run plays away from him.
-- Adams said the team is preparing to face both Kentucky quarterbacks, Jalen Whitlow and Maxwell Smith. The Wildcats use a two-quarterback system.
-- Defensive backs coach Grady Brown said the key issue with his players is that they have been out of position. Brown did not indicate that there would be any personnel changes for Saturday's game.
-- The Gamecocks will practice next at 4 p.m. Wednesday. It is closed to the public.
