USC-Missouri kickoff set

The SEC has announced a kickoff time for USC-Missouri.

South Carolina’s game at No. 14 Missouri on Oct. 26 will kick off at 7 p.m. and be broadcast on ESPN or ESPN2, the SEC announced on Monday.

USC (5-1, 3-1 SEC) is coming off a 52-7 win at Arkansas and jumped three spots in the Associated Press Top 25 to No. 14 on Sunday. The Tigers (6-0, 2-0) are coming off an upset win at then-No. 7 Georgia. The Gamecocks are at Tennessee on Saturday while Missouri hosts No. 22 Florida.

The Tigers saw quarterback James Franklin leave the Georgia game with a separated shoulder, and media reports had Franklin either missing six weeks or the rest of the regular season. Coach Gary Pinkel refuted those reports on Sunday, saying that he would offer an accurate timeframe of Franklin’s absence within two days, but has yet to clarify the situation other than “a few weeks.” Regardless, it seems very likely that redshirt freshman backup Maty Mauk will start for the Tigers against the Gators, and perhaps against the Gamecocks.

Missouri leads the overall series 2-1, but USC won the first SEC meeting between the two schools 31-10 in Columbia last season. The Tigers have beaten the Gamecocks in bowl games for their two wins in the series, in the 1979 Hall of Fame Bowl and the 2005 Independence Bowl, which ended Steve Spurrier’s first season at USC.
