A South Carolina win over Mississippi State would...

... Be the Gamecocks' seventh-straight win over the Bulldogs. The Gamecocks have not loss to Mississippi State since a 17-0 setback in Starkville in 1999.

... Extend the Gamecocks' home winning streak to 15 games, tying the school record, set from 1978-80.

... Be the 38th Gamecock win in a four-year period, matching the school record set by last year's senior class.

... Give Connor Shaw his 23rd career win as a starting quarterback. Only Todd Ellis (24) has more in Carolina school history. Shaw is 22-5 as a starter for the Garnet & Black.

South Carolina hopes to keep is Southeastern Conference title hopes alive. The Gamecocks went 2-1 on its just concluded three-game road trip to draw within a game of Eastern-division leading Missouri, which still face contests with Ole Miss and Texas A&M. Mississippi State starts a brutal three-game stretch (Texas A&M and Alabama the next two weeks) and hope to open with an upset.

Mississippi State left guard Gabe Jackson vs. South Carolina defensive linemen Jadeveon Clowney and Kelcy Quarles. The 6-foot-4, 335-pound Jackson is considered an NFL first-rounder by some and was picked this week as the SEC offensive lineman of the week. He probably won't get the 6-6, 274-pound Clowney and the 6-4, 298 pound Quarles one-on-one much, but he will likely have to provide help to the Bulldogs' tackles.

... QB DAK PRESCOTT: The sophomore has completed 86-of-150 passes for 1,158 yards and five touchdowns while also rushing for a team-high 490 yards and eight touchdowns.

... WR JAMEON LEWIS: The junior has pulled in 30 passes for 446 yards and four touchdowns. In the Kentucky win, he caught a touchdown pass, threw a touchdown pass, and rushed for a score.

... LB DEONTAE SKINNER: The senior has started 31 straight games, and this season has 45 tackles, 3.5 for loss, with one sack and one interception.

... OL GABE JACKSON: The senior left guard, who’s 6-foot-4 and 335 pounds, has started every game of his career and ranks as one of the top offensive linemen in the nation.

... The Bulldogs have won four-straight contests versus SEC East opponents (2011/Kentucky, 2012/Tennessee and Kentucky, 2013/Kentucky). Mullen has compiled a 9-3 record against teams from the East.

... The Bulldogs are 32-1 under Mullen when leading after three quarters.

... MSU has rushed for 18 touchdowns in seven games.

... The Bulldogs are averaging 30 points on 456 yards of total offense per game.

... MSU has outscored teams 163-79 in the first half this season.

... The Bulldogs have lost only one fumble all season.
