Jadeveon Clowney could be ready to play in Week 1 of the NFL season, says Houston Texas coach Bill O’Brien.
"I think he's gonna be there for the opening game (of the regular season) against Kansas City," O'Brien told NFL.com. "I think he's going to make it back, and I'm really looking forward to that. He's working very hard to get back."
The Texans No. 1 overall 2014 draft pick from South Carolina has been on injured reserve after undergoing microfracture surgery on his right knee in December.
After spending thes offseason rehabbing, Clowney has been able to take part in some weight room activities. He has not yet been cleared by doctors, but his recovery is "on the right track," O’Brien told reporters recently.
The Texans wrap up OTAs on Friday and begin mandatory minicamp on June 16.
