Former South Carolina football player Patrick DiMarco was named as the Atlanta Falcons’ nominee for the 2015 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, the team announced Wednesday.
He is heavily involved with the Atlanta community including work with the Rally Foundation (works with childhood cancer research), supporting the Children’s Miracle Network, hosting a holiday party for military families and helping with fundraisers for mentally challenged children among other efforts.
As a Gamecock, he ran for 302 yards in his career, 147 as a senior. He was also a team captain. He signed with San Diego as an undrafted free agent, spent a year there and a year in Kansas City and has been with the Falcons the past four seasons.
