Former Louisiana-Lafayette head coach Ricky Bustle, a South Carolina native and Clemson graduate, is interested in the opening on the Gamecocks coaching staff, Phil Kornblut reported Tuesday evening on his radio show.
Bustle was fired in November after nine season at ULL. Prior to that, he was a longtime assistant and offensive coordinator at Virginia Tech. South Carolina has an opening on its staff because special teams coordinator and recruiting coordinator Shane Beamer left Monday to take a job at Virginia Tech.
Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier said he doesn’t have a timetable to name Beamer’s replacement and said he is looking for someone with a strong background in special teams. Bustle has no special teams coaching experience listed on his resume.
Bustle grew up in Summerville and graduate from Clemson in 1976.
