INDIANAPOLIS – It's another day at the NFL Combine, which means more Weslye Saunders news, of course.
The NFL Network reported that a broken bone in Saunders’ left foot may keep him out of South Carolina’s pro day on March 30.
The injury, which was discovered during routine medical exams here, already has cut short Saunders' combine. He participated in the vertical jump and the broad jump Saturday but was unable to compete in the 40-yard dash.
Saunders told Steve Wyche of NFL.com that he planned to have surgery on his foot Monday and could need four to six weeks to recover. The injury might require a pin in his foot, Wyche reported.
Today's South Carolina action included wide receiver Tori Gurley running a 4.59 in his first attempt in the 40-yard dash. Cornerback Chris Culliver is expected to meet with the media today, and we'll bring you his comments if we're still here. My flight leaves Indy at 2:30.
That doesn't mean the combine information will stop, though.
Coming up this week on GoGamecocks.com and in The State we'll have a story on Ladi Ajiboye and how he rebounded from a less-than-perfect upbringing to get here, behind-the-scenes information from Cliff Matthews and more on Saunders, of course.
So stay tuned.
