Frank Martin’s South Carolina men’s basketball program has been in the market for a transfer wing this offseason.
Another name emerged Sunday.
Lehigh’s Brandon Alston tweeted he’ll visit Columbia this coming weekend. The 6-foot-5 graduate transfer bounced back from missing his sophomore season because of a torn ACL to average more than 20 minutes a game.
Never miss a local story.
Alston averaged 6.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per game for the Mountain Hawks last season, starting the final 10 games. He shot 45.6 percent, 35.2 from 3.
Lehigh went 2012 and lost in finals of the Patriot League tournament.
The Gamecocks have been in the market for more wings after losing Sindarius Thornwell to the graduation and P.J. Dozier to the NBA draft. USC was a finalist for Wright State’s Mark Alstork and UNCW’s C.J. Bryce, but they landed at Illinois (with former USC assistant Brad Underwood) and N.C. State respectively.
