Mark your calendars for Friday, July 7. That’s the start of the NBA Summer League’s schedule in Las Vegas, and opening day features a Gamecock vs. Gamecock matchup.
The NBA careers of South Carolina’s Sindarius Thornwell and P.J. Dozier will start in the same city, Los Angeles, on two different teams. The Clippers and Lakers will face off at 8:30 p.m. July 7 in a game that will be televised by ESPN.
Thornwell was selected in the NBA Draft shortly after 11:30 p.m. The Milwaukee Bucks drafted Thornwell with the No. 48 pick, then traded his draft rights to the Los Angeles Clippers.
After going undrafted, Dozier signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. Dozier will play for the Lakers in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, July 7-17, according to South Carolina. It’s expected Thornwell will be on the Summer League roster with the Clippers.
