BJ McKie is on the move.
According to WCIV in Charleston, the former Irmo and South Carolina standout is leaving Charleston Southern for an assistant coaching job at East Tennessee State. McKie has been at CSU since 2011 and was promoted to associate head coach in 2015.
McKie replaces Brian Collins, who left for Illinois State. He will join fellow Irmo graduate Brooks Savage as members on Steve Forbes’ staff.
McKie interviewed for the Presbyterian College head coaching job this summer.

McKie is the Gamecocks’ all-time leading scorer with 2,119 career points and was elected to the school’s hall of fame in 2016. He was named the 1996 SEC Freshman of the Year, and is just the 12th player in league history to earn Associated Press First-Team SEC honors for three seasons.
After USC, McKie played in the CBA, NBA D-League and finished his career by playing overseas.
