JaMychal Green scored 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots to lead Alabama to a 57-47 victory over South Carolina on Wednesday night.
Tony Mitchell had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Crimson Tide (10-6, 2-0 Southeastern Conference), who opened up 2-0 in conference play for the first time since 2002.
Alabama, which remained undefeated at home this season, scored the first seven points of the game and had a 15-7 lead at the 9:43 mark, but South Carolina went on a 12-3 run to take the lead 19-18 on a field goal by Ramon Galloway with 6:09 to go.
The Crimson Tide quickly regained the lead on a dunk by Mitchell as Alabama responded with eight unanswered points to go back in front 26-19 with 1:01 left.

Green and Mitchell scored 17 of Alabama's first 20 points. The duo ended up combining for 19 points in the first half for the Crimson Tide, who went into halftime with a 26-21 lead.
Malik Cooke and Eric Smith combined for 13 of South Carolina's first 17 points and 15 of the Gamecocks 21 first half points.
The closest South Carolina got in the second half was 33-30, but Alabama outscored the Gamecocks 11-3 to push the advantage to 44-33 — its largest lead of the game — on a free throw by Green with 7:47 left.
Cooke finished with 11 points for South Carolina (10-5, 1-1), while Galloway and Bruce Ellington had 10 points each.
South Carolina made 16 of 56 shots from the field (28.6 percent). The Gamecocks' starting lineup was 7-for-35 in field goals. Ellington was 4-for-15.
Sam Muldrow followed a triple-double against Vanderbilt with nine rebounds and six blocks against Alabama, but managed four points on 1-for-11 shooting.
The Crimson Tide outrebounded USC 41-36. Lakeem Jackson grabbed 11 rebounds for the Gamecocks.
South Carolina travels to Florida on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. contest.
