Basketball players Carlton Geathers and Bruce Ellington graduated on Monday, each with degrees in sociology.
Geathers, a redshirt junior, didn’t play last year and will not play this year due to a knee injury and further complications from it. He will have one year of eligibility next season.
“I’m planning on continuing to get my leg straight, and look forward to next season,” said Geathers, who attends games with the team.
Ellington has begun his final season of basketball eligibility and plans to play as many games as possible. He will play in Tuesday night’s game against Manhattan and in Thursday’s game against USC Upstate before re-joining the football team for Capital One Bowl practice.
Ellington will not travel with the basketball team to its three-game stint in Hawaii, and he won’t play in home games on Dec. 28 and Dec. 30. USC’s final non-conference game, vs. S.C. State on Jan. 3, is a wait-and-see, as the Gamecocks play in the Capital One Bowl on Jan. 1.
