Linebacker Jordan Montgomery (6-1 198) of Groveland, Fla., said weeks ago he would commit to USC as soon as he could get on campus and pledge in person with Steve Spurrier.
That moment came Saturday when Montgomery and his family made an unofficial visit to USC and met with Spurrier in his office.
"He asked me if I was ready to be a Gamecock," Montgomery said. "It's a great decision that I made. I felt that South Carolina was the perfect fit for me."
Montgomery was recruited for the spur position and he feels he will fit right in.
"I can line up in the box and I can cover," he said.
Last season he had 86 tackles with 2 sacks and an interception.
He also had offers from Arkansas, Iowa State, Maryland, Ole Miss, Central Florida and Western Kentucky.
He's the Gamecocks 13th commitment for the 2011 class.
