South Carolina Class of 2015 linebacker commitment Sherrod Pittman broke his leg during a game Friday night.
According to the Florida Times-Union of Jacksonville, Fla., the injury happened in the second quarter when Pittman got tangled up with one of his First Coast High teammates. First Coast won the game 41-2, is 8-0 on the season and has one more regular season game left.
“Two things we can do for Sherrod, we can keep him in our prayers and dedicate the rest of season to Sherrod,” Buccaneers coach Marty Lee told the Florida Times-Union.
Pittman, a four-star prospect, committed to the Gamecocks on July 29, 2013. He is planning to be a mid-year enrollee at South Carolina.
Several of Class of 2015 USC commitments have battled injuries this season:
-- Bluffton defensive end Shameik Blackshear tore an ACL.
-- Centreville (Va.) running back A.J. Turner has missed most of the season with a wrist injury.
-- Tight end Connor Redmond (Lawrenceville, Ga.) has also missed time.
