South Carolina football recently extended likely the first QB offer under new position coach Dan Werner.
On Tuesday evening, the Gamecocks staff made another, this time to a pro-style quarterback.
Jacob Conover, a 6-foot-1, 196-pound QB out of Arizona’s Chandler High School, tweeted he’d received and offer from USC. He is a three-star and the No. 437 player in the 247 Composite, No. 14 among pro-style passers.
Conover reportedly has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Alabama and Ole Miss, among others.
Last season, he threw for 3,077 yards, 32 touchdowns and two interceptions, while leading his team to a 13-2 record and a state title. Chandler finished No. 11 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25, as its only losses were to Florida powerhouse IMG Academy and a top-5 team in its own state.
USC’s offer to Conover is the team’s third to a passer in the western U.S. Former offensive coordinator Kurt Roper had offered Ryan Hilinski out of California and Colorado passer Ty Evans, who is now committed to Roper’s new school, Colorado.
