Defensive back Keisean Nixon of Arizona Western College takes his final official visit this weekend to Tennessee before he announces his decision on Dec. 17, his mother’s birthday.
Nixon also has visited South Carolina, Colorado State, Iowa State and Oregon State, and his coach believes, based on what he’s heard from Nixon, that he will choose either USC or Tennessee.
“He loved his visit (to USC),” coach Thomas Minnick said. “He loved South Carolina when he visited. I know that for a fact because that’s his number one school. But now if he likes Tennessee, he’s got a choice to make.
“South Carolina is probably in front because he visited South Carolina first,” the coach continued. “I think they are number one and everybody else is number two. But if he has good trip to Tennessee, shoot, it might be Tennessee. I don’t know. I know he really loved South Carolina when he went there and I know that’s his number one school as of right now probably, but he hasn’t visited Tennessee yet either. It will come down to those two schools. I can’t guarantee that but I bet you it’s one of those two schools.”
Nixon is a native of Compton, Calif. He and the Matadors played in the national championship game last weekend, falling to Garden City Junior College of Kansas 25-22, their only loss of the season. Nixon led the defense with 5 tackles. For the season he had 27 tackles with 6 interceptions and 2 sacks.
Another junior college defensive back, Kaleb Chalmers, is expected to sign next week with either the Gamecocks or Ole Miss.
