Long time Miami defensive back commitment D.J. Ivey (Homestead, Fla,) has been in regular contact with South Carolina coach Will Muschamp and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson. The interest between Ivey and the Gamecocks is high enough that he plans to come to a Muschamp camp June 14-16. Ivey said he's still a Hurricane commitment but he wants to see what the Gamecocks, and others, have to offer.
"Coach T-Rob was telling me he likes how long I am, my length, and my awareness to the ball in man coverage," Ivey said. "They seem to be pretty serious. I have a pretty good impression. They are telling me that the team is going to become very good in future years."
Ivey has never visited USC.
As far as his commitment to Miami, Ivey said he's still on the list.
Never miss a local story.
"It's still pretty solid by I'm going to look around," he said. "Georgia, Auburn and Kentucky," he named as other possible summer stops. "Miami is still recruiting me hard."
Ivey only played in two full games last season because of high ankle sprain suffered in week three. He tried to come back but his coaches told him to sit out the remaining games since the season wasn't going well. As a sophomore he had two interceptions and broke up seven passes.

Shough said his top group right now is USC, North Carolina, Cal, Michigan and Indiana. He plans to have a decision by the end of June.

▪ Spring Valley linebacker Channing Tindall told AuburnSports.com USC has slight lead on the Tigers at this point with Georgia and Florida also in his top four. He was at Auburn last weekend and plans to visit Georgia soon. He also plans to visit Notre Dame on June 8.
