LB Lateek Townsend (6-3 207) of Marlboro County has taken official visits to USC and Southern Cal, and will take official visits to Tennessee and LSU according to his coach Dean Boyd. The LSU visits is set for January 21st.
As for the final visit, Boyd said Clemson and Michigan State are the two Townsend is considering. Of course, Townsend has visited Clemson before. The connection to Michigan State is former Newberry coach Zach Willis who is now a member of the Spartan staff. Willis, a McCall native,has known Townsend and his family for years.
Coaches from Clemson, LSU, Tennessee and Michigan State were in for visits last week. Boyd said USC and Clemson remain the top two for Townsend who had 120 tackles with 7 sacks this season.
