Two longtime USC leans from Powder Springs, Ga., officially announced commitments to the Gamecocks on Wednesday.
Linebacker Marcquis Roberts (6-1 205) and tight end Rory Anderson (6-5 205) made their decisions known during a ceremony at their school, McCeachern High School.
Both made official visits to USC in early November and had been favoring the Gamecocks since then.
Roberts, who had 86 tackles with six sacks as a senior, projects as a strong safety or outside linebacker — or a hybrid role like USC’s “Spur” — in college, though he also played inside linebacker and was a short-yardage tailback for McEachern.
Roberts had offers from Wisconsin, Louisville, Virginia, Ole Miss and West Virginia.
Anderson caught 38 passes with six touchdowns last season. He is capable of playing receiver as well as tight end.
Anderson picked the Gamecocks over Tennessee. He had offers from Purdue, Illinois, Virginia, Louisville, N.C. State and Mississippi State.
Their commitments give the Gamecocks 28 for their class.
