OL Jonathan McLaughlin (6-5 291) of Mauldin has picked up offers from Wake Forest and East Carolina. He is hearing from USC, Clemson, Duke, Marshall, Georgia Southern and several other schools from across the South, according to coach Doug Shaw Jr.
"He's got good feet and long arms," Shaw said. "If he gets his hands on you, you're in trouble." Shaw believes more offers are in McLaughlin's future. "He had a good off-season," he said. "He is learning to play the game and not just depend on his size. A lot of schools are going to give him look."
Shaw is expecting several schools to stop in during spring practice to evaluate McLaughlin including USC and Clemson. McLaughlin has shown interest in both schools. "He was at the Clemson game with (former teammate and current Tigers commitment) Ryan Norton," Shaw noted. "When he got back, he was like, 'man coach, did you see how fast they play?'"
Shaw went on to say he was really impressed with the new offense at Clemson and that McLaughlin is planning a visit to USC in the future. He did not indicate a favorite for McLaughlin.
