Wide receiver Kwinton Smith (6-5 195) of Dillon committed to South Carolina on Wednesday night, becoming the Gamecocks' 11th commitment for the 2012 class.
Smith made the commitment while on campus for an unofficial visit.
Smith picked the Gamecocks from his top five that also included Alabama, LSU, Auburn and Georgia. Smith attended a USC camp in June and was offered then.
"It's close to home and it's a great school to attend," Smith said last month. He also visited the other four schools before making his decision.
Smith had 43 catches for 830 yards and 15 touchdowns last season breaking the school record for receptions and touchdowns.
"He's got all the tools," said his coach Jackie Hayes. "He's a good route runner, recognizes coverages and has great hands. He creates bad matchup problems."
Smith is also a baseball prospect and batted .475 with 6 home runs last season.
Smith is the first receiver to commit to the Gamecocks.
