DL Carlos Watkins of Forest City, NC made an unofficial visit to Clemson Thursday. His mother was among those with him on the visit which was her second to Clemson.
She said they spent most of the day with coaches Dan Brooks and Jeff Scott. They talked a lot about his academic needs for his senior season and they toured the campus. “It was a good day with the Clemson coaches,” Watkins’ mother said. “They are genuine people who care about their students. Clemson is still one of his top choices.”
Clemson was the first school to offer Watkins who is going back on the road this weekend. He is going to Alabama Friday and Georgia Saturday. He also has visited Notre Dame.
USC also has been in pursuit of Watkins. He has visited there before but his mother was not sure if they will make it back to Columbia this summer.
Watkins wants to make his decision by the start of his season.
