USC added another piece for its secondary Monday night with a commitment from DB TJ Gurley (5-11 190) of Cairo, GA. He’s the 18th commitment for the 2012 class and the third for the defensive backfield.
Gurley was recruited as a safety and he picked the Gamecocks over Tennessee and Mississippi State. Gurley visited USC earlier this summer and was in regular contact with coaches John Butler and Jeep Hunter.
“They like me as a roll down safety, a cover safety and a nickel back,” Gurley said. “I like the program and the education. I like the coaches and they play my style of play. I feel like it’s a good program. It was the best fit for me.”
Gurley also had offers from Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Louisville and Southern Miss.
