Running back Keith Marshall of Raleigh will not take an official visit to South Carolina, but he will see the Gamecocks play at least twice this season.
Marshall’s coach Clarence Inscore said Tuesday that Marshall has scheduled three official visits, with the first being the weekend of the USC-Georgia game in Athens.
Inscore said Marshall also plans to take an unofficial visit to USC during the season.
“Keith keeps up with Coach (Jay) Graham quite a bit and keeps in touch with him,” Inscore said. “They have a good relationship. I don’t think it matters to him if it’s official or unofficial. He’s going to visit Georgia and get to see South Carolina at the same time.”
Marshall also set official visits to Notre Dame on Oct. 22 and Florida on Nov. 26.
“He’s looked at schools (for official visits) he hasn’t had a chance to get out to yet,” Inscore said. “He’s also looking at some of the games he wants to see. And he wants to see the game day atmosphere.”
Marshall is considering Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Oregon and Southern Cal for his last two official visits. And he will take an unofficial visit to North Carolina.
“He’s trying to get the list whittled down,” the coach said. “He’s looking at not only football, but where the school and the community fit the best.”
Inscore said Marshall does not have a front runner right now. He plans to make a decision in December or early January because he will enroll in school in January.
Rivals.com ranks Marshall the 55th best prospect in the Class of 2012 and the fifth-best running back in the country.
