Wide receiver Chris Brown of Hanahan wants to play football and run track in college. And right now, South Carolina is in good shape to land his talents.
“It’s highly probable he will be going to USC, but my mission is to show him other places before he signs,” Brown’s father Joe Brown said. “Steve Spurrier Jr. has been communicating with him pretty hard. I got a feeling it’s going to be around the end of the football season (before he commits). He wants the focus not to be on him but on the team.”
Joe Brown said his son is going to visit Virginia Tech unofficially in a couple of weeks, and he is planning to take official visits to Cincinnati and LSU. He’s also talking with Notre Dame about an official visit.
The elder Brown said USC wants his son first as a wide receiver, though he could end up playing cornerback there.
“He plays defensive back, but he’s more comfortable as a wide receiver,” Mr. Brown said.
Chris Brown had 50 catches for 1,098 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. He’s also a nationally ranked triple-jumper.
