USC has three defensive backs committed for 2012 and is expecting a fourth in Chaz Elder. They also are strongly in the mix for defensive backs Eli Shumate and Jordan Diggs.
If they land all three, that might be all they take for their secondary. Then again, considering how depth has been a problem there this season, the Gamecocks might decide to take more.
One player they are keeping in touch with is Wayne Morgan (5-11 191) of Brooklyn. He attended one of the Gamecock camps this summer and remains interested in the Gamecocks.
"My coach has been in touch with them," Morgan said. "He's been talking with Coach Mangus. They are saying they are real interested. And I have a lot of interest in South Carolina."
Morgan said most of his other interest right now is come from Eastern schools...Rutgers, Maryland, Syracuse and Connecticut.
He has not decided on official visits and does not have any favorites.
