Class of 2013 DB Desmond Lawrence (6-1 175) of Charlotte received an offer after a one-day camp in Columbia over the summer. It was his first. "I just picked up my second offer yesterday from NC State," Lawrence added.
Lawrence was at the USC-Auburn game and likes the Gamecocks. "They have a great coaching staff," he said. "I loved the atmosphere there. It's a lot of fun. Plus, they've got a team loaded with talent and are going to do some things."
Schools showing interest include Clemson, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, Duke, Florida, Georgia Tech, Oregon, Vanderbilt and Virginia. Other camps Lawrence attended were Clemson, Miami, UNC and Duke.
"I am most interested in South Carolina, Clemson, NC State, UNC and Duke," Lawrence said. "Clemson is a lot like South Carolina. They have a big-time atmosphere. It seems like a football state."
Never miss a local story.
He plans to attend games at Clemson, North Carolina (this weekend), NC State and Duke.
Through seven games, Lawrence has nearly 600 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns. On defense, he has 50 tackles, three interceptions and three pass deflections.
He does not have a favorite.
