Defensive back Chris Moody of McDonough, Ga., will take an official visit to South Carolina this weekend, his coach Thursday afternoon.
"You never know but he got with coach [Lorenzo] Ward and he's supposed to be coming," Mike Rozier said. "He's flying out of Atlanta around 3:00."
Moody committed to Vanderbilt last weekend while on an official visit, and his coach says anything is possible this weekend when it comes to Moody perhaps switching to the Gamecocks.
"I hate to say, but there must be something there because he's taking a visit," Rozier said.
Moody's parents will not be joining him because they have a conflict this weekend.
Moody played quarterback and safety in high school and the Gamecocks like him for the safety position.
He will join committed defensive end Jhaustin Thomas of Decatur, Ga., in Columbia for official visits this weekend.
