DL Tashawn Bower (6-5 230) of Somerville, NJ was at USC Saturday with his father, his first unofficial visit away from schools in his area.
“It was my first visit to see things from a different standpoint,” Bower said. “It was different from Rutgers and Connecticut. I really liked it.”
Bower said he was impressed by the academic record of the football program explained to him by recruiter GA Mangus. They had 27 graduating seniors, and that’s very good, and they had some other high academic points,” he said. “The business school is very good and they’ve got a new building coming up. I loved the football side. They have a huge stadium. I went on the field and into the weight room.”
USC is one of 15 offers for Bower. Some of the others are Syracuse, Rutgers, Connecticut, Virginia, Florida State, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Tennessee, Purdue, Kentucky, Maryland, Pittsburgh and Kentucky. He does not have any favorites.
Bower plans to visit Ohio State next weekend and he also wants to visit Alabama, Georgia and LSU. “I want to see what feels right,” he said. He won’t make a decision until he takes his official visits next fall.
