LB Jalen Stevens (6-3 215) of Goose Creek visited USC Saturday with teammates LB Gerald Turner and WR Tramel Terry. He enjoyed the trip.
"I really liked eveything about it," Stevens said. "I was impressed with the coaches. They all knew who I was."
Stevens wants to play the spur position for the Gamecocks and said he spoke with coach Steve Spurrier about that. "He told me that they were going to wait until this summer to decide which position they were recruiting me to play," he said. "He just encouraged me to keep working hard. I have a feeling they may offer me soon."
He also spoke with Jadeveon Clowney. "I couldn''t believe how big he was," Stevens joked. "I'm 6-3 and I had to look up at him. He doesn't have any body fat and is just put together. He was really cool...just a regular guy. He told me it didn't matter how big you are, it's how big your heart is."
Never miss a local story.
Stevens will visit Georgia Tech February 18th and Clemson in March. He does not have any favorites but does like the Gamecocks, Tigers and Yellow Jackets. "I'm just waiting to see who offers me," he said. "I want to go to the place that is going to give me the best chance academically and a shot at playing at the next level."
