6-5 Austin Ajukwa of Cardinal Newman Monday picked up an offer from USC after visiting with the Gamecock coaches on campus.
“It means a lot,” Ajukwa said of the offer. “I was born here in Columbia and I’ve always lived in Columbia. I love Carolina sports and grew up around a lot of Gamecock fans.”
Ajukwa said from his meeting with the Gamecock staff he got an idea of what they like about him and how he would fit in. “I’m a big guard or wing who can do what little guards can do,” he said. “They like my skill set on offense. They say my better days are ahead of me.”
Ajukwa also holds an offer from Clemson. The Tigers just took a transfer in 6-5 DeMarcus Harrison but Ajukwa says that does not affect him.
“I talked to coach (Earl) Grant earlier today and he said that won’t affect their recruiting of me,” Ajukwa said.
He plans to start lining up official visits soon with Clemson, USC and East Carolina to be three of his stops. He does not have a favorite.
