Sophomore quarterback Kevin Johnson Jr. of Atlanta had Gamecock fans buzzing when he posted on Instagram a picture of himself at Williams-Brice Stadium and wrote that he might commit as soon as next week to USC.
But a source said Wednesday that right now Johnson is not a player USC would take at quarterback.
And Johnson tweeted Wednesday night that he’s slowing things down since he’s only a sophomore: “Just realized I'm only an Sophomore. I don't to rush this recruiting thing. That's why it's called a recruiting process. Learning everyday!!”
Last season Johnson passed for 1,563 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushed for 400 yards. He counts USC as his only offer with interest from Georgia and Alabama.
His dad played at USC in the late 1990s/
