USC ended up with no official visits this past weekend after the situation arose with DE Darrius Caldwell and after rescheduling committed junior college DE Jhaustin Thomas for this coming weekend.
Also set for officials to USC this coming weekend are committed DE Dante Sawyer and Florida State commitment DE Arthur Williams of Fayetteville, NC.
Williams made his official visit to Florida State in early November and the Seminoles have stayed in regular contact according to his coach. USC has made a late run at the Shrine Bowler and he will check out more with the Gamecocks this weekend.
"South Carolina said they like him," coach Earnest King said. "I'm not real big on decommitting from a school that has struck with you, but this is a decision he has to make."
The coach made the visit with Williams to Florida State and has remained in touch with Seminole recruiters. Williams' parents also went on that visit and they will join him this weekend in Columbia. FSU coach Jimbo Fisher had made his in person visit with Williams. USC coach Steve Spurrier has not yet been in.
Williams also had an official visit set with Auburn but did not take it.
Williams is an interior defensive lineman who had 104 tackles and 6 sacks last season.
