Defensive lineman Albert Huggins of Orangeburg-Wilkinson continues to move at a deliberate pace with his recruiting, and he can do this knowing full well one of his favorites is filling up at his position.
South Carolina continues to recruit Huggins, who said he doesn't have any immediate plans for a return visit to Columbia.
Huggins spent a few days at Clemson last week while camps were going on. Clemson has been one of the schools on Huggins the strongest from the early part of his recruiting and he found his time there last week to be beneficial.
"I got to sit down with the coaches more because I didn't work out at all," Huggins said. "I got to sit down with Coach Hobby, Coach Swinney and Coach Brooks and we just had a good talk about life and girlfriends and things like that other than football."
But there was also some time to talk football as well. Huggins told the Tigers he wants to play defensive end in college.
All that said, Huggins said he's not made up his mind about his future destination. When it was pointed out to him that many in the recruiting world expect him to go to Clemson, Huggins gave a chuckle and said, "We'll see how it goes."
He said Swinney told him last week he had one spot left at defensive end and had a couple of other prospects visiting later in the week.
"Hey man, if they commit, you know we can't take you," Huggins said he was told by Swinney. "I'm like, 'Hey coach, I know that, I'm aware of all that. But I need time. I'll be graduating mid-year and I need time. I need to pray about this so I need time.' "
Huggins said he talked to the Gamecocks about a week ago and told USC coaches that he plans to take visits out of state to have something to compare with the two instate schools.
"Coach Adams said, 'Hey man, you've been up here a lot of times but we haven't had the long conversations I want to have,' " Huggins said. "I'm going to Georgia in a couple of weeks and see how it is there, and then I'm going to try and go to Florida to see how it is there."
He also wants to visit Florida State and Auburn this summer.
Huggins said he doesn't have a leader.
