Prior to attending Clemson's junior day last weekend, OL John Simpson of Fort Dorchester had the Tigers and USC high up on his list with little difference between them.
Now, there's a big difference.
Johnson said he now favors Clemson, while the Gamecocks aren't in his top three right now. LSU and Georgia fill out the spots behind Clemson.
"Carolina is not out of the picture," Simpson said. "I haven't taken a visit there to look at the whole campus. Clemson is the only visit I've taken like that."
Simpson said he will visit USC again soon, but he's not sure when. He won't attend the Gamecocks' next junior day March 28 because he's going to Mississippi State and Alabama that weekend. He will visit Georgia on March 21.
As for the recent visit to Clemson, Simpson was simply blown away by what he was shown.
"I saw a lot of things I hadn't seen before," he said. "I really wasn't expecting that. I guess that's what's made them my top school. I got a close view of the new dorms, what they are starting to build near the indoor facility. I saw all the stuff that's going to happen."
Simpson added he had good conversations with the Clemson coaches and other recruits.
"Me and Coach [Tony] Elliott always have a nice conversation," Simpson said. "He's always been close to me. Me and Coach [Robbie] Caldwell also had a nice conversation. He wants me up there pretty bad. He wanted me to know I could play any position on the offensive line. Parker (Boudreaux), that's my dog. And Sean (Pollard). They are really cool."
Simpson said he's not close on making a final decision and wants to take as many visits as he can before settling on a school.
