WHAT TO WATCH FOR: The Gamecocks have notched their second consecutive 20-win season and have reached that plateau for the 12th time in school history. It’s the fourth time they’ve reached the 20-win mark since joining the SEC. It’s also the eighth time a Dawn Staley-coached team has reached 20 wins in her 13 seasons as a head coach. ... South Carolina and Texas A&M are the two hottest teams in the SEC, both on six-game winning streaks. The Gamecocks have won eight-of-nine. ... There is a logjam of five teams battling for the top four spots before the SEC tournament. The Gamecocks are tied with Georgia and Kentucky — a game behind Tennessee and a half-game back of the Aggies. ... This marks the return to Columbia for former USC player Kelsey Bone. The junior center was SEC Newcomer of the Year after the 2010 season after averaging 14 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. She elected to transfer at season’s end and is second in the SEC in scoring and rebounding this season for the Aggies. ... USC has allowed more than 60 points in a game once this season. They are third in the country in scoring defense, allowing only 47.7 points per game. No team has reached its season average against the Gamecocks, with only four teams coming within 10 points of their average.
