Perhaps they’ll re-name it the A’ja Award.
South Carolina sophomore forward A’ja Wilson was named SEC Player of the Week for the second straight week and third time this season on Tuesday. Wilson is coming off a career-best 28-point performance against Duke which kept the No. 2 Gamecocks perfect.
She had her fifth double-double of the year (11 rebounds) and held Duke star Azura Stevens to 11 points, nearly half her average. Wilson is averaging 18.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. She leads the SEC in blocks (3.1 per game), double-doubles and made field goals (60).
USC hosts Winthrop at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
