At Sao Paulo, Brazil, Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey of Camden owned the overnight lead Friday of the Brasil Champions on the Web.com Tour.
Rain prevented 75 golfers from finishing the second round.
Gainey closed Friday with a eagle-birdie finish to shoot 7-under 64. He is at 12-under 130 through two rounds.
Midday thunderstorms halted play for two hours.
Also, D.J. Trahan (Mount Pleasant/Clemson) was at 139, and Mark Anderson (Beaufort/USC) was at 149 among the players who finished the second round.
On the PGA Tour: Lucas Glover (Greenville/Clemson) shot his second straight 69 at the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla. He is tied for seventh at 4-under 138, two shots behind leader Brendon de Jonge.
Also making the cut were Sam Saunders (Clemson) at even-par 142, and Kevin Kisner (Aiken) at 143. Jonathan Bryd (Columbia/Clemson), William McGirt (Boiling Springs/Wofford) and Scott Brown (Aiken/USC-Aiken) failed to make the cut.
