North Augusta (6-0) vs. Lexington (5-1)

Site: North Augusta Stadium.

Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Game notes: Lexington closed non-region testing with a 5-1 grade under first-year coach Josh Stepp. The Wildcats blasted winless Lugoff-Elgin 48-28 last week behind the running of Garvin Jackson whop rambled for 161 yards and five touchdowns on 26 carries. Jackson is up to 509 and and six TDs on the season. QB Will Hunter is 100-for-157 passing for 1,374 yards and 13 touchdowns with just four interceptions. Keelo Norris (41-562-6) and Brentle Allen (22-305-3) are the primary targets. LB Grayson Chumley is the defensive leader with 60 tackles and seven TFL. DB Jordan Carr has 25 tackles, four interceptions, three PBUs and two forced fumblers North Augusta has opened the season with six straight wins for the third time in the last five years, but the Yellow Jackets haven’t made it to 7-0 since 2001. The potent NA attack is a balanced affair with running backs Willie McCloud and Dashawn Barns combining for more than 1,100 yards and 17 touchdowns to date. QB Trib Reese is 81-for-104 passing for 1,298 yards and 16 TDs. The balanced receiving corps utilizes Keyon West (34-480-4), Antuan Andrews (18-275-4) and Dre Dunbar 13-263-5) to good effect. Jordan Blocker is the top hit man of defense with 57 tackles. The Jackets bring the heat with 16 sacks to date. Kyle Severance and Brandon Maddox have four sacks apiece.

Series history: North Augusta has restored order of late with four wins in the last five years after the Wildcats won 10 of 12 (1996-2007). NA has a 23-19 series lead in the modern era.

Dutch Ford (4-2) vs. South Aiken (1-5)

Site: Dutch Fork Stadium.

Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Game notes: Dutch Fork enters Region 5-4A play caught in a two-game losing streak and still stinging from a 42-41 overtime loss to archrival Irmo last week. The Silver Foxes are 0-2 with star running back Matt Coburn on the shelf. The defense has allowed more than 600 rushing yards in setbacks against Goose Creek and Irmo. Walter Roberson filled in admirably for Coburn with 116 yards rushing, one touchdown run and one scoring reception. QB Derek Olenchuk was 17-for-24 passing for 292 yards and four TDs. Austin Ruger caught six passes for 100 yards. But all the offensive production was not enough. Olenchuk leads in the Midlands in pass completions (110) and touchdown passes (20) and is second in passing yards (1604) South Aiken has lost five in a row since opening the season with a win over Richland NE.

Series history: Dutch Fork has a won three previous encounters with the Thoroughbreds by a combined margin of 128-10.

White Knoll (5-1) vs. Aiken (1-5)

Site: The Wolf Den.

Time: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Game notes: White Knoll is looking to bounce back from a 41-21 loss to Spring Valley. He Timberwolves are a much more balanced offensive team under new coach Dean Howell. Quinn Jones (96-698-9) and E’Mond Brown (65-432-3) handle the bulk of the running game. QB Craig Blakey is 41-for-67 passing for 745 yards and six touchdowns. Sophomore Calev Grubbs (22-438-4) has emerged as the leading receiver. Jordan LeMay (60 tackles, 9 TFL, 1 sack, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 blocked kick, 1 safety), Caleb Brian (44 tackles, 5 TFL), Jermaine Abney (22 tackles, 3 TFL, 4 sacks) and Chandler Strama (37 tackles, 2 interceptions) are top players on defense Aiken is struggling under first-year coach Brian Neal. The Hornets, who are moving down to 3A next season, dropped a 34-20 decision to Blythewood last week.

Series history: White Knoll has won two in a row to cut Aiken’s series lead to 7-4.
