Bamberg- Ehrhardt squeezes into Class 2A semifinals

Bamberg-Ehrhardt limited Bishop England to 227 yards of offense, and Tyrell Wilson’s 15-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter sealed the Red Raiders’ 27-20 victory on Friday night.

Red Raiders quarterback Sumner Cooler led the game with 157 yards and two touchdowns on 12-of-17 passing.

Nick Shiver led the Bishops with 130 rushing yards, with scoring runs of 60 and 36 yards.

The score was tied at 14 at halftime, and Bamberg took the lead with Garrett Zeigler’s third-quarter touchdown reception. Bishop England’s attempt to even the score failed when the Bishops missed the extra point kick after Shiver’s final touchdown

Bamberg-Ehrhardt improves to 7-5 and will face Silver Bluff in the Class 2A Division 2 semifinal. Bishop England finishes 9-3.


At Goose Creek, South Pointe ended Goose Creek’s undefeated season and advances to the Class 4A Division 2 semifinals.

The host Gators gave up an interception in the first quarter and a fumble in the second that helped South Pointe take a seven-point lead into the break.

Goose Creek posted more than 400 yards on offense, led by Dantez Bennamon’s 227 passing yards, but the Gators’ rushing game was limited to 169 yards. Caleb Kinlaw led the Goose Creek rushing effort, with 88 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.

South Pointe (11-2) will return to Goose Creek to face Stratford (11-2) on Nov. 29.


At Rock Hill District 3 Stadium, York was stopped at 10-3 as Northwestern racked up 418 yards on offense and shut out the Cougars in the second half.

Trojans back Julian Shockley rushed for 101 yards on 12 carries and Mason Rudolph posted 197 yards and three touchdowns on 15-of-19 passing to lead the game. Ryan Moore led York with 64 of the Cougars’ 88 rushing yards, and Dashaw Andrews connected with Daurice Simpson on a 15-yard strike for York’s only touchdown.

Undefeated Northwestern will host North Augusta or Beaufort in a Class 4A Division 2 semifinal.


At St. Stephens, Timberland advanced to the Class 2A Division 1 semifinal. Timberland (10-2) will travel to Dillon on Nov. 29. Loris finishes 9-3.


At Dillon, Anthony Blue scored three touchdowns as Dillon advanced to the Class 2A Division 2 semifinals.

Dillon’s only female player, Tara Grimsley, kicked eight extra points as the Wildcats cruised.

Dontreyzin Jones scored the only touchdown for Lake Marion on a 19-yard pass from Deriante Jenkins.

Dillon (10-2) hosts Timberland next week.
