Wilson dominates, Highlander girls roll

All-America senior A’ja Wilson piled up 30 points and grabbed a tournament-record 24 rebounds to lead unbeaten Heathwood Hall to a rousing 72-36 win over Atlantic (FL) on Wedneday at the CresCom Bank Hiloday Invitational in Myrtle Beach.
The 5-0 Highlanders take on unbeaten Midlands rival Dreher in a 6:45 p.m. Thursday second-round game at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Wilson had a 13-for-21 shooting performance from the field, and 16 of her record 24 retrieves came at the defensive end. The 6-foot-4 star was also credited with seven blocked shots, three steals and two assists.
Victoria Dickerson and Gadsen Lefft provided double-digit scoring support. Dickerson rang up 14 points, including an 8-for-10 showing at the free-throw line. Lefft scored 13 points, grabbed eight rebounds and also blocked seven Atlantic shots.
