Lower Richland dropped a tough, 66-64 decision to Wilson in the Pepsi Carolina Classic semifinals on Monday at West Florence High.
Stephon Hawkins scored with 50 seconds remaining in regulation to put the Diamond Hornets ahead, but that would be the last tally of the game for the locals. LR had chances down the stretch, but missed two free throws and then turned the ball over with 16 seconds to go.
Wilson freshman Blake Walker deposited the winner as the buzzed sounded.
Jared Richardson scored a game-high 23 points for LR.
Wilson faces South Florence in Tuesday’s championship game, while Lower Richland (6-3) plays Darlington in the third-place game at 4:30 p.m.
