Ben Lippen, the only unbeaten boys basketball team left in the Midlands, returns to action this weekend after a long holiday break.
The Falcons went 9-0 prior to Christmas, but have not played since Dec. 21. Ryan Molony’s team gets back into the swing with home games against Orangeburg Prep (Friday) and King Academy (Saturday).
Ben Lippen enjoyed balanced production in the first month of the season.
Junior Wright Bynum (11.1 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.3 spg), junior Braden Cox (9.9 ppg, 2.0 apg, 1.3 spg), freshman Mark Shoemaker (8.1 ppg, 3.6 apg, 1.7 spg) and junior Aaron McGuire (7.7 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 2.2 spg) have emerged as the team leaders.
The Falcons have another full week of preparation to go before opening SCISA Region 1-3A play on Jan. 14 at home against Heathwood Hall.
The Ben Lippen girls stand at 4-5 under former Heathwood Hall star Kristen Dickerson, who is in her first season and as the Falcons varsity coach.
