It's a defining week for No. 4 Westwood

Terry Dozier’s second-year Westwood boys basketball team is enjoying a breakout season with a 12-2 overall record and a 2-0 start in Region 4-3A matters.
But the No. 4 Redhawks will find out where they really stand with three testing games this week. The ordeal/challenge begins tonight with a home game against traditional Midlands powerhouse Lower Richland, followed by road trips to 10th-ranked A.C. Flora on Friday and to No. 6 Dreher on Saturday.
Westwood has faltered only against a Charlotte private school and defending SCISA state champion Cardinal Newman at the Moody holiday tournament in Rock Hill. Otherwise, the Redhawks have been flawless and run the table (8-0) against Richland District 2 foes.
Dozier liberally employs a deep bench with seven players averaging at least 12 minutes of player per game, but the foundation players are seniors Antonio Wright (11.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.3 apg), Gerald Vaughn Jr. (7.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.8 apg, 2.7 spg) and Napoleon Goodson (6.0 ppg, 2.0 apg), junior Adonus Lee (7.7 ppg, 6.0 rpg) and sophomore Jordan Watson (10.2 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 3.5 apg).
