Wildcats, Foxes are still standing

Lexington and Dutch Fork are the only Midlands teams left standing in the state wrestling playoffs.
Both are teams are in action in the Class 4A quarterfinal round tonight. Defending state champion Lexington (28-6) hosts Ashley Ridge (22-4), while surprising Dutch Fork (13-7) travels to face Summerville (31-1).
Defending state Lexington breezed by Richland Northeast and Goose Creek in the first phase of the postseason on Saturday. The third-ranked Wildcats square off against eighth-ranked Ashley Ridge at 6 p.m. Lexington edged AR 33-31 during the regular season.
Dutch Fork toppled Carolina Forest and host Wando on Saturday to advance to the third round for the first time in six years. The Silver Foxes gave Summerville a run during the regular season before falling by a 35-34 count.
The semifinal round is scheduled for Wednesday, weather permitting. The championship finals in all three classifications are slated for Saturday at Dreher.
