With a veteran team in tow, Dutch Fork is expected to challenge for the Region 5-4A softball championship and make a run in the state playoffs again.

The Silver Foxes welcome back seven starts from a team that went 20-10, finished second to White Knoll in the region and made it to a district championship game for the third time in four years.

The foundation of the team is up the middle with the return of pitching ace Haley Elkins (College of Charleston signee), catcher Jenna Elkins, shortstop Lindsey Mason, Meghan Murphy at second base and star center fielder Madi Brown.

Cassidy Piccirillo (third base) and Sarah Hofferth (left field) are also back for another go.

Dutch Fork opens the season at the Snowball Classic preseason tournament hosted by Hillcrest in the Upstate this weekend.
