Lexington five starters from last season’s 18-10 ball club, but the Wildcats will feel the impact of having a few key players moving over to first-year River Bluff High.
“We’re not as experienced as we have been, especially at pitcher and first base,” said Wildcats coach Russell Spires. “But we do have a great leader in Emily Mattone.”
Mattone, a senior, is the anchor of the perimeter defense in center field.
Juniors Ashley Camp (SS) and Sydney Garling and sophomores Courtney White (3B) and Kayb Spalding (P) form the rest of the veteran core.
The key newcomers include junior catcher Hannah Wilks, sophomore Shipley Yonkers (2B) and freshmen Ashley Jacobi (OF) and Cheyenne Elliot (1B).
Lexington opens the regular and Region 5-4A campaign at home on March 11 against North Augusta.
