Heise closing in on 400 career wins

Veteran Brookland-Cayce coach Kevin Heise needs two wins to become the seventh soccer coach in South Carolina history to reach the milestone.

Brookland-Cayce boys soccer coach Kevin Heise is closing in on a significant career milestone.

The long-time Bearcats coach is two wins away from becoming the seventh soccer coach in state history to post 400 wins. In 24 seasons at B-C, Heise stands at 398-157-23 with a .709 winning percentage.

Heise is No. 2 is on the all-time Midlands win list behind Phil Savitz, who has a state-record 642 wins to his credit in 34 years of coaching – 33 at Irmo and this season at first-year River Bluff.

B-C hopes to make it happen this week with two home matches on the schedule – Monday vs. Midland Valley and Tuesday vs. Camden.

The Bearcats, ranked No. 2 in Class 3A behind River Bluff, sports a 7-2 record. Tonight’s match is B-C’s Region 5-3A opener.

Heise’s teams have won 12 region championships, two Lower State titles and advanced to the state semifinals six times in all.

Already a member of the S.C. High School Soccer Coaches Association, Heise also serves as the Director of Soccer at B-C, and is the Executive Director for the Congaree Rapid Soccer Association.
