Boys tennis playoffs start Tuesday

Action begins with first-round matches in Class 4A and Class 3A. The latter classification expands to 32 teams for the first time. Class 2A play starts on Thursday.

The boys tennis state playoffs start this week and run through the championship matches in three classifications on May 17 at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center.

The action begins on Tuesday with first-round matches in Class 4A and Class 3A. The Class 2A playoffs begin on Thursday. Of note, the 3A playoffs have expanded to 32 teams for the first time this season.

Class 4A

Easley (4) at Irmo (1); Greenwood (3) at Spring Valley (2); Conway (3) at Lexington (2); Lugoff-Elgin (3) at Summerville (2); Dutch Fork (3) at Carolina Forest (2).

Class 3A

Chapman (4) at A.C. Flora (1); Broome (3) at River Bluff (2); Chapin (4) at Clinton (1); Dreher (3) at Union (2); Darlington (3) at Brookland-Cayce (2); Airport (3) at Manning (2). Gilbert, the No. 1 seed out of Region 5, has a first-round bye.
