Lexington was the only Midlands baseball team to survive elimination day.

While the Wildcats were sweeping Goose Creek to stay active in the Class 4A state playoffs, Richland Northeast and Blythwood both lost in 4A district finals and Chapin and River Bluff fell in 3A elimination games.

RNE went down swinging. The Cavaliers, who finished 19-10, defeated host Northwestern 8-5 in the first game of the District 3 finals but fell 9-1 in the all-or-nothing nightcap. The Cavs scored six runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth to win the opener, but could not sustain the attack in the second game.

Blythewood’s season came to an end with a 7-3 loss to Fort Mill in the District 2 final. The Region 2 champion Bengals finished 19-8.

River Bluff saw its successful inaugural campaign come to an end with a 6-0 loss to visiting Belton-Honea Path that blocked the Gators' path to the 3A District 5 final. RB finished with a 14-11 rookie record.
